My sitemap is very HUGE! It takes almost half of minute to load - which takes a lot of server resources.

Is there a way like wordpress sitemap has, where you can compress your sitemap to yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml.gz file?

Not yet. We may look into that at some point in the future, but not sure when as there is a lot on the plate right now.
