Have you had a chance to look at the new CKEditor?

Yes, but not in detail. It looks faster, more functional...

Yeah, played around a little bit with their demo. Really like it. Sure wish they could have included the "Full Page" editing into 3.0. That one would make me want to wait on 3.1.

What do you think about nukeWYSIWYG 3.0 including ckeditor and HTML Purifier?

I think HTML Purifier is PHP 5.x so that might restrict the consumer base *slightly* but I would definitely use it and sounds like a good idea!

It could check the PHP version and use kses if not 5...or have a configuration parameter that lets the webmaster decide which to use.

Having said that, I haven't reviewed the usage of HTMLpurifier yet, so implementing it might require additional changes to the nukeWYSIWYG functions (though doubtful).

I'll be blunt lol. I feel sorry for people still running PHP 4, but in my opinion its there lose. Upgrade/move hosts or be left behind.

"yes" on ckeditor for sure. But I think HTML Purifier and Technocrat's phpInputValidator tools need a more thorough review. I suppose if HTML Purifier's sole purpose is to protect against XSS (which was kses' primary purpose), then one could tie the two together. (I still struggle with the whole notion of tieing a site admin's hands by filtering his/her input vs. protecting against CSRF/XSS attacks, but I'm torn with how to balance the risk/reward.)

I think there needs to be more business logic around filtering though, such as things like: do we have true numeric, do we have a valid formatted email address, do we have ______ fill in the blank. Goes way beyond kses and certainly wouldn't be appropriate for nukeW.

We are getting a little off topic here, but I am pretty sold on HTML Purifier. I'm not sure about phpInputValidator either, but I think HTML Purifier is the gold standard in my opinion.

Purifier would hopefully allow for syntax highlighting plugin to function. That would be great.
