Why should I use Feedburner?
Why should I use Feedburner?
I'm sure that's a joke, but just in case:
- Feedburner publishes - and tracks - your feeds using its own servers, which alleviates some of the load on your server.
- With almost 1 million feeds, it has become the defacto directory of feeds.
- Feedburner provides additional services like Headline Animator, Buzz Boost, Email Subscriptions, Ping Shot and FeedCount to promote your feed - and your site.
- Now a part of Google, Feedburner can be expected to expand its FeedBurner Ad Network (FAN), giving your another way to generate revenue from your site. Google likes Sitemaps because it eliminates the need to scan a site and distinguish between noise (e.g. navigation, ads, etc.) and real content. Feeds also provide pure content - making them a desirable alternative to sitemaps. In fact, Google recently announced that its sitemap program would accept feeds!
- Feedburner has feed monitoring functions built-in, so you can see when there is a problem with your feed.
- It's ALL free.
